Top 10 April Book Releases 2020

April 2020 is just around the corner, set to bring with it many new book releases. If you're looking to get your April TBR sorted, check out this list of the top 10 releases coming over the next month to add to your list. 

1. The New Husband - J.D. Palmer

I recently finished Gone Girl (click here to read my full review), and this thriller sounds like the perfect read to fix my book hangover. 

2. Little Secrets - Jennifer Hillier

3. Chosen Ones - Veronica Roth

I really enjoyed the Divergent trilogy when I read it (many, many years ago now...) and I definitely wasn't in the minority, so there are a lot of readers eagerly awaiting Veronica Roth's first adult novel. 

4. After Life - Julia Alvarez

5. Crave - Tracy Wolff

This sounds a little bit like a typical cringey vampire book - which is right up my street...sign me up. 

6. The Happy Ever After Playlist - Abby Jimenez 

"Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can't seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a "take me home" look in his eyes is about to change everything. One of my top 10 monthly releases posts wouldn't be complete without a cheesy romance...this one sounds very cute and fluffy - perfect considering we could all do with a bit of light-hearted entertainment at the moment! 

7. Death in Her Hands - Ottessa Moshfegh

"While on her normal daily walk with her dog in the forest woods, our protagonist comes across a note, handwritten and carefully pinned to the ground with a frame of stones. "Her name was Magda. Nobody will ever know who killed her. It wasn't me. Here is her dead body". Our narrator is deeply shaken; she has no idea what to make of this. She is new to area, having moved her from her longtime home after the death of her husband, and she knows very few people. And she's a little shaky even on best days. Her brooding about this note quickly grows into a full-blown obsession, and she begins to devote herself to exploring the possibilities of her conjectures about who this woman was and how she met her fate. Her suppositions begin to find echoes in the real world, and with mounting excitement and dread, the fog of mystery starts to form into a concrete and menacing shape. But as we follow her in her investigation, strange dissonances start to accrue, and our faith in her grip on reality weakens, until finally, just as she seems be facing some of the darkness in her own past with her late husband, we are forced to face the prospect that there is either a more innocent explanation for all this or a much more sinister one - one that strikes closer to home."

If you're a fan of horror, this is definitely one to add to your list.

8. The Sweeney Sisters - Lian Dolan

I love books focused around family dynamics, so this one is going straight to the top of my list. 

9. The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires 

"Patricia Campbell had always planned for a big life, but after giving up her career as a nurse to marry an ambitious doctor and become a mother, Patricia's life has never felt smaller. The days are long, her kids are ungrateful, her husband is distant, and her to-do list is never really done. I love Quirk Books' publications - they always make for such unusual and interesting reads. 

10. Island Affair - Priscilla Oliveras
